Update: And I'm back!
I'm finally done here and I'm coming back to the States. Can't wait.
I've had some great times here with the guys at Blinkx as well as Autonomy at work, local pubs, and restaurants. I'm looking forward to seeing Matt, Sergio, and Andy who are going to the US for a month or two.

Converting from CVS to SVN: Developer's Notes And Why SVN Is Better

(Work in progress) Last week at the new company I got hired at, I was trying to push the repository approach to developing and maintaining data. For one reason or another, it wasn't being done at the time. As a CVS user and admin, I wanted to set up CVS but decided to explore other options as well, including Perforce and SVN. Well, the choice between those 2 was easy: SVN is completely free while Perforce allows only 2 licenses with $800/license beyond those 2. So a couple of days ago I finally visited London. The train from Cambridge takes about 1h15m, and the roundtrip ticket only costs 13 pounds due to some promotion. I ended up walking around a lot and taking the hop on – hop off tour bus. One day is obviously not enough to see all of London but it allowed me to see lots of famous things without entering them.

7/3: Thought of the day: Cambridge = Davis in the 16th century. Same amount of bikes but instead of dusty streets, Cambridge has medieval castles. For example:

7/2: So my 2nd week started today, and I finally decided to get my butt out of bed and go explore Cambridge. I got up at the crack of noon and took a taxi downtown where I went on a guided tour around a couple of colleges as well as the punt tour of the river Cam (that's what Cambridge derives its name from). I also walked around town and visited souvenier shops. The 2 hour walk home was pleasantly tiring.
